You Just Never Know

In case you are wondering, this is a picture I took of the 4th of July fireworks in Washington, DC on the tv. Who would have thought? The reason for the picture is because I found some information about a relative that is really cool.

It all began when I went into Ancestry.com and was updating my credit card info. If you haven't tried Ancestry.com, it is a really great site to trace your family. While I was on there, I noticed a little blerb that said Kentucky Marriages. We have been looking for info on several marriages that we thought took place in Kentucky and hadn't had any luck. Tonight.... we had luck. I put in the name Eleanor Peace Collett. She was born in 1802 in Wakefield, England. We had always thought she married a Michael Barstow....WRONG!!!!! She married his brother, Jeremiah. They had three children...the second one was Marie Louise Barstow. Marie married a William Owsley George and they produced 6 kids. The first was Eva Waller George who married John Joseph Kreer. Their youngest child was Elinor Peace Kreer who married Arnold W. Totman. They had three girls: Evelyn (my Mom), Barbara, and Priscilla (my favorite Aunt-Pat).

I was so excited that I called Elinor(my sister) who is visiting friends in the Bay Area. She was thrilled. It was a cool find and I am delighted. You just never know what you will find when you are not really trying.

That's so cool! The part about all this researching is finding out information you thought was accurate is no longer true! Of course, if the first name was leaving you at a dead end and the new one made all the right connections then you sure did make a big discovery! WAY TO GO! It is amazing all the information you can dig up. Glad you updated your credit card!
